I have a lifetime of experience writing songs in all genres
I have written for film, theatre, radio and television. I have professionally released two albums, three EPs and two singles of my original material, and two successful albums of kid’s songs.
My work has been included in compilations alongside major A-list artists (Blondie featuring Robert Fripp and The Sugarcubes).
I have collaborated with many artists, including Ivor Novello Award winner and composer for several Oscar-winning movies Alex Heffes, Mercury Prize nominee Nick Bird, leading light of New Country Peter Bruntnell and talented sideman, producer and solo artist Tim Bradshaw (David Gray, John Mayer).
I have also worked with amateur creative people who wanted to record a band arrangement of a song they wrote for their wedding anniversary, etc. I will work happily with anyone to co-write, polish and record a song for any purpose. Demo or broadcast-ready master the result will always be to the highest standard.
Songwriting is a discipline
It is also tremendous fun and very satisfying. If you are lucky and are prepared to persevere and put in the hours, it can provide an income from publishing and airplay. The more original content you create, the more chance you have to make a career out of it.
Here’s a couple of bespoke country tunes I wrote to order for my publisher WDM to pitch to Nashville artist Claire Petrie for her last album. (Alas they were not picked up, but she said she really liked them!)
I added my specially written songs to the successful Richard James school play ‘Professor Thyme and the History Mystery’ to turn it into a musical. It has been performed all around the world.

I also wrote a theme tune for Richard James’ sci-fi comedy audio play ‘Andy’s Androids’.
I recently co-wrote ‘The Worm Wood Experiment’, a musical for young people with Graham Brooks (script and songs).
I co-wrote and sung ‘Coming Home’, the theme tune to Granada TV’s six episode comedy/drama series ‘Stan The Man’ starring John Thomson, Joe Absolom and Eric Sykes with Ivor Novello award winner Alex Heffes.
